Trucker strike in usa1/1/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() A vast majority of Canadian truck drivers have already been vaccinated, leaving a small but vocal minority of a few hundred truckers behind this convoy. To date, more than 900,000 people in the US have died of COVID-19, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.īoth Canada and the US agreed to vaccination requirements in October for truckers going back and forth across the border. It also inspired similar protests against pandemic restrictions in other countries around the world, including New Zealand, Australia and France.ĬOVID-19 vaccines are safe and highly effective at preventing hospitalization and death, and public health measures like masking and social distancing have helped slow the spread of the virus. Like the US counterpart, the Canadian protest didn't accomplish its goal of stopping vaccine requirements in the country, but it put stress on supply lines between Canada and the US. ![]() Their presence in Ottawa led to disturbances, including truck horns blaring night and day, and alleged property damage and hate crimes. The US convoy took inspiration from the Canadian truckers that called themselves the "Freedom Convoy." Demonstrators across Canada set out in late January to protest the country's vaccine requirements. The organizers demanded the end of the pandemic state of emergency and the end of vaccine mandates, and for elected and unelected officials to be held accountable for the origin and response to the pandemic. Organizers of the trucker convoy spoke with some members of Congress during their time protesting, while also sharing misinformation and making references to conspiracy theories such as QAnon, the fringe right-wing theory that posits former President Donald Trump was fighting a secret cabal of Satanic pedophiles. On Sunday, leaders of the protest, referred to as the "People's Convoy," said they were beginning to pack things up from their staging point at Hagerstown, Maryland, according to a report from The Daily Beast Monday. Then, as the Canadian protest came to an end, the US version began, but it too now appears to be over.ĭemonstrators in semi-trucks and other vehicles drove around Interstate 495 - better known as the Capital Beltway that surrounds the Washington, DC, metro area - as part of their protest, with occasional ventures into the heart of the US capital. Canadian law enforcement eventually cleared out demonstrators, bringing the city and the rest of the country back to normal. For weeks in February, Canadian truckers occupied Ottawa, the country's capital, and blockaded major international crossings in a protest against COVID-19 vaccine requirements. ![]()

Skies of arcadia dreamcast discs1/1/2024 ![]() The character models on this version appear more life-like with depth (although its really just a matter of preference.) On top of that, the sound is accurately porte d. Any HD-TV monitor capable setup will show the artistic rendering of the Dreamcast at its height, with bumpmapping and without the fake cartoony stylizations the gamecube version brings you. It is what truly makes the game fun, especially in 640x480 dpi. The character models are vivid and fluid, surpassing the gamecube version in some aspects. The graphics usually don't make the game but in this case they do. The best part of the game has to do with the graphics. I also enjoyed a very interesting storyboard. I think it's generally around $20 new. This game is really fun, it has alot of characters with interesting backgrounds. His games on Wii, namely Fishing Resort & Ivy the Kiwi, have increased in price recently, so grab Rodea the Sky Soldier while you can on the cheap. It's from Yuji Naka of Sonic the Hedgehog & NiGHTS Into Dreams fame. Not only is it a Wii U exclusive in a sense, it includes the canceled Wii version (the best version). If you want a game for cheap that's likely to increase in value in the future, track down a copy of Rodea the Sky Soldier. Combine that with the fact that the Wii U can upscale all of your Wii games & you'll have a desirable collector's piece down the road. Then you have Wii U games like Devil's Third, Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (PAL), etc., that are incredibly expensive right now. Wii U versions might be worth more than Switch versions since there'll be less out there. For example, Skies of Arcadia got ported to Gamecube with improvements - though I still prefer the Dreamcast version - yet the Dreamcast version is still worth a good deal. Even when games get ported to other systems, as is the case with many Wii U games, the prices still stay up there. Both failed, both are from beloved gaming companies, and both will become very valuable in the coming years. I tell people to snatch up Vita & Wii U stuff when they see it. These are games that used to sit on the shelves at Gamestop/EB Games, nobody wanted them, but look at their prices now. ![]() Some other examples are games like Rule of Rose, Kuon, Cubivore, Deadly Premonition on Xbox 360 & PS3, Afrika, etc. I got a brand new Virtual Boy at Sears for $69.99 when they were being liquidated. Hell, not too many people are fond of the Virtual Boy, but look at the prices of the systems & games. I just can't it's impossible to afford those games now so I stick to my bootlegs for those systems and the occasional original I have here and thereĭreamcast is a failed system that people are fond of. I was able to replace over 200 games of my pirated PS2 library with originals (all of these are original, there's just as many in the back)Īnd to me, my 200+ game SNES library is out of this world with titles like Terranigma, Pocky & Rocky 1 and 2, Illusion of Gaia, Final Fight 3 (tough) and many others, not talking about rare or expensive just games I LOVEīut I can't do the same for Saturn, PS1 and DC I was talking about games like Canon Spike, Cosmic Smash, Psyvariar 2, Trizeal, Under Defeat, Berserk, Giga Wing 2 and stuff.Īlso despite having a massive library of games across many systems, I don't consider myself a collector, just a guy who happens to buy the game he loves.ĭuring the PS1, DC and PS2 days buying original games here in Macedonia was practically impossible, but we had everything thanks to piracy. No one cared about this system for 20 years, what the hell is happening? Is it just the pandemic? Do you think the prices will fall? I don't mean to brag but I got my DC with 18 games for $85 in a competive bid on Ebay and now more than 5 of the games I got with it that day are worth more than $85. I don't even know what to think about this other than I feel sorry for the people who are just getting into it. The prices of Dreamcast games held pretty much steady for 15 years that I have been tracking them and then in the course of a year, they double, triple or quadruple. Soul Calibur is one of the most common games on the system and was always under $20, is now going for $40. Even games that can be played on other platforms like Rayman 2 have shot up. Power Stone 2, I got for $85 last year and now it is closer to $150. Capcom vs Snk was $30 when I bought it in 2018, now it is almost $80. ![]() MvC2 was $30 in 2014 when I bought it and it goes for $175. Marvel vs Capcom was under $40 for 15 years and now it is $75. I bought Skies of Arcadia summer of 2019 for $63 and now it is $125. Sonic Adventure 2 was $30 complete until last year, now it is $90. Sonic Adventure was below $20 forever and now that is a $70 game complete in box. I have been slowly collecting and playing DC games since 2005 and the price increases in the last 6 months to a year are insane. ![]()

President nelson waterfall quotes1/1/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() There is a common thread that links these scenes and memories - the spectacle of life in all its varied manifestations as it has appeared, evolved, and sometimes died out. Each time that I enter it, I gain some new awareness of its beauty and its deeper meanings, sensing that intricate fabric of life by which one creature is linked with another, and each with its surroundings. Yet it is a world that keeps alive the sense of continuing creation and of the relentless drive of life. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." Nelson Mandela's statement from the dock in the Rivonia Trial ended with these words. The shore is an ancient world, for as long as there has been an earth and sea there has been this place of the meeting of land and water. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. Revert to xcode 10.31/1/2024 ![]() ![]() And here’s where protocols come into the play!īy having a protocol defining a series of methods that will be responsible for file manipulation and a protocol extension to provide a default implementation, every single class or structure adopting it would get the same file-related functionalities! And not just that. Using classes and inheritance with a parent class to implement the standard functionality was out of the table, as it would rule out structures ( structs). Methods that should be written once and used everywhere and with any type. However, the downside is that all of them require methods to perform file operations (saving, loading, deleting). The first step towards that was easy: Creating classes or structures with properties that represent app settings and user preferences. What I needed was app-specific solutions tailored to the needs of each application I was making. User Defaults are undeniably good, but it’s a general and a non-“Swifty” solution (and to be honest, I’ve rarely used them). For a long time, I was bothered by the fact that UserDefaults has been the only mechanism to save small bits of data fast, such as settings and user preferences. Now, what protocols have to do with app settings and anything that the title of this post says? Well, let me explain and make the connection. ![]() If you are a new developer, then I really encourage you to read more on protocols as there’s a lot of interesting information to find out. By being able to define a series of methods that “describe” a set of functionalities and have a standard implementation of them, classes, structures and enumerations that are not even related among them (the opposite of what happens with inheritance in classes for example) can acquire common, additional features which extend their functionalities. And that feature is what actually makes protocols quite powerful and a popular topic in Swift development. What makes protocols particularly interesting is the ability to provide a default implementation for the defined requirements simply by just extending them (protocols). All those defined methods and properties are called requirements. In fewer words, a Swift protocol defines a number of methods and properties that the adopting types (classes, structures, enumerations) must implement. Any type that satisfies the requirements of a protocol is said to conform to that protocol. The protocol can then be adopted by a class, structure, or enumeration to provide an actual implementation of those requirements. Protocols can be used to serve various purposes, however, what remains always the same is what the documentation from Apple says:Ī protocol defines a blueprint of methods, properties, and other requirements that suit a particular task or piece of functionality. Hello and welcome to a new tutorial! One of the most common concepts met and used in Swift by all developers is protocols, and I don’t think there’s even one developer who doesn’t know about them. ![]() |
